East Campus

East Campus is a 20-story, high-rise building with a suite-style setting in the eastern part of campus. Not only does East Campus offer great suite-style living, but it boasts some of the most amazing views of NYC, the campus and Morningside Heights. It was built in 1981, and completely renovated between 1990-1991, with an additional refurbishment during the summer of 1997. The west townhouses received a complete overhaul during the summer of 2002, while the east townhouses were renovated the following year. The 18th and 20th floors were updated in 2004. Since that time, one floor of the highrise is refurbished each year, providing new paint, flooring, appliances and furniture. The street address for East Campus is 70 Morningside Drive.

Seniors, juniors, sophomores, Barnard students, fraternities, sororities, special interest houses, and even faculty members have a place in EC.Senior groups of two choose into the flats on the first day of selection. High-rise suites consisting of all single rooms usually go to all seniors as well, as do the townhouses. High-rise suites with a mixture of single rooms and double rooms go to a combination of sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

What Students Say

“You can't beat living in East Campus. You're always within a few steps of everything [on campus], your closest friends are right there [living] with you, and you actually have a place for people to sit when they come to visit.”

"This is my favorite residence hall, especially if you live in a suite full of your friends. This hall reminds me of a real NYC apartment."

"Suite life is a lot of fun and the suites are incredibly clean and well air-conditioned. EC may be detached from other halls, but it becomes a community in itself. There are great fitness centers on the 8th and 16th floors of the high-rise section that gives EC another perk.”
